Welcome!

My name is Emily and I’m a travel enthusiast, outdoor lover, and adventure seeker. I’m based in the Philadelphia region, but am always on the hunt for the next adventure both near and far from home. I started Scaling the Globe in 2020 so that I can share my love of traveling and the outdoors with others.

In sharing my experiences, my mission is to inspire others to go explore and find adventure! If an average girl like me can travel without a lot of money or time off, so can you! Not sure where to start? Reach out and I can help.

About Me

  • My main travel buddy is my husband, Sam. We got married in 2019 and share the same love for the outdoors, adventures, and delicious Italian food.

  • I grew up in Rochester, NY and it holds a special place in my heart. Although I no longer live there, my parents and sister still do.

  • I graduated from the University of Pittsburgh with a masters degree in Public Health (Go Panthers!)

  • My enthusiasm for traveling began after I studied abroad for a month in Ghana during my undergrad.

  • I’ve been to five of the seven continents - North America, South America, Europe, Africa, and Asia. I hope my next international travels bring me to New Zealand, landing me my sixth continent.

  • I work a full-time job as an infectious disease epidemiologist. In this role, I track cases of disease within the community and work on outbreak prevention.

  • Ice cream is my all time favorite dessert - a vanilla cone with rainbow sprinkles always hits the spot.

  • The first national park I visited was Joshua Tree in 2018 and I hope to visit all 63 in the US someday

  • Sam and I added a dog to our family in November of 2020! We brought home a mini-bernedoodle who we named Toby.

  • My favorite quote is by Simon Raven: “Since life is short and the world is wide, the sooner you start exploring it, the better.”
