River Wild Campervans

River Wild Campervans is an Alaska’s premier campervan rental company. Launched in 2021, River Wild’s fleet of custom-built campervans and jeeps are fully equipped for an epic Alaska adventure. All of their rentals were built with a focus on comfort, functionality, and style. River Wild’s mission is simple: to provide a means for wanderlust souls to independently explore Alaska’s wild places.

For adventurous travelers who appreciate the freedom and flexibility that independent travel allows, a campervan is the perfect way to explore Alaska. With my passion for hiking and outdoor adventures, I chose to travel with River Wild Campervans for our 12-day trip to Alaska in 2021 and it was unforgettable.

What’s Included:

  • Full size memory foam bed with 2 pillows, comforter, fleece blanket, and sheets

  • Bath towels

  • Two-burner propane stove, 2 pots and 1 pan, utensils, knives, cutting board, strainer, kettle, French press

  • Dish set, silverware set, cups and mugs

  • Dish soap, sponge, paper towels, kitchen towel, trash can

  • Electric refrigerator (easily fit 1 weeks’ worth of groceries for the two of us)

  • Two camp chairs, camp table, bear spray

  • Window covers, LED lighting, roof fan above bed

  • Alaska State Park Pass

  • Average of 250 miles per day

Why we loved renting a campervan from River Wild:

  • Ease of drivability & parking (much easier than a motorhome/RV)

  • Travel off-grid! Solar panels power cabin outlets, built-in lights, refrigerator, and cabin heater

  • The van has a sink with freshwater & greywater tank (to wash dishes, brush teeth, etc.)

  • Plenty of storage (multiple storage cabinets & large storage area under the bed)

  • High Roof! Sam, who is 5’11” could stand upright no problem at all!

  • Everything’s basically included!

Things to consider:

  • No toilet or shower option in 2021.

  • Although well designed, it is still tight living quarters. It is a van after all! If you aren’t already close with your travel partner, you definitely will be after traveling with them in a van :)

  • The memory foam mattress is super comfortable! But the full-sized bed is on the shorter side (71” long). Sam is 5’11” and a back sleeper and he had to sleep at a slight diagonal to be fully comfortable. I’m 5’4” and a side sleeper and I slept like a baby.

Our 12-day trip in Alaska will forever be one of our most memorable adventures! Exploring Denali National Park, ice trekking at the Matanuska Glacier, cruising through the Prince William Sound, and fishing for rockfish in Seward made for an epic and unforgettable experience. Alaska truly has so much to offer and River Wild Campervans was the ideal means for us to explore the state. I hope this blog on Exploring Alaska in a Campervan inspires you to visit!
